The map therefore preserves a valuable pre-boom portrait of roads, settlements, ridges, streams, and rural land patterns before late twentieth-century development dramatically reshaped the region.

The cartography is classic USGS topographic work: lucid, functional, and quietly elegant. Contour lines articulate the rolling character of the terrain, tracing the folds, slopes, and shallow valleys that define the southern Bentonville area. Water features are distinguished in blue, transportation corridors and built features are sharply symbolized, and the varied linework gives immediate visual order to a complex landscape.
