This is perhaps the most beautiful historic maps of Ireland I've ever seen. It was originally published in 1611 by John Speed, one of the fathers of cartography and England's most notable cartographer of the Jacobean era.
This map looks great at all sizes: 12x16 inches (31x41cm), 18x24 inches (45.5x61cm) and 24x36 inches (61x91.5cm), but it looks even better when printed large.
I can create beautiful, large prints of this map up to 80 inches (200cm) wide. Please get in touch if you're looking for larger, customised or different framing options.
The model in the listing images is holding the 20x16 inch (51x40.5cm) version of this map.
The fifth listing image shows an example of my map personalisation service.
I also have this same map in its handcoloured form. Depending on your room’s aesthetic/decor, you might prefer this version.
There's an incredible level of detail on this map, with most towns, cities and even some villages in Ireland and Northern Ireland clearly visible on this map.
This old map was hand coloured over 400 years ago and, as you can see, is still in amazing condition for a map of this age.
Most of the villages and towns are labelled in Modern English, which is nice as you should be able to recognise most place names. Take a look and see if you can spot your home town!
In the top left is a beautiful cartouche declaring that the map is the Kingdom of Ireland. Below it are engravings of Irish gentlemen and commoners.
Ireland was rather oddly shaped back in 1611, but all of the major towns and cities are already visible - Cork, Dublin, Belfast, etc.
This would make a wonderful birthday, Christmas, work leaving or housewarming gift for someone from Ireland or who has Ireland in their heart.
This map is available as a giclée print on acid free archival matte paper, or you can buy it framed. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that suits most aesthetics. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame colour or material. My frames are glazed with super-clear museum-grade acrylic (perspex/acrylite), which is significantly less reflective than glass, safer, and will always arrive in perfect condition.
Some of my old maps are now available on canvas. Smaller and larger sizes are available, but you must contact me to order.
Check my canvas maps collection to see which maps are currently available on canvas.
Canvas old maps are an interesting alternative to conventionally framed maps. Depending on your personal taste and room decor, canvas maps can "pop" a bit more than a framed map.
I print on responsibly sourced canvas with very high quality, fade-resistant inks. Then the canvas is stretched over a hand-glued solid wood frame - and yes, the wood is responsibly and renewably sourced.
The finished piece is 1.5 inches (3.8cm) deep and comes ready to hang.
Please note that because of the texture of canvas, some of the finer details on some maps will be harder to read than a map printed on paper.
At 36x24 inches (90x60cm) everything should be legible. But if you want to check before you order, please contact me.
If you are not happy with your unique map for any reason, contact me for a no-quibble refund.
I am very confident you will like your old map. I have been doing this since 1984 and I'm a 5-star Etsy seller with 1000s of sales and reviews.

I use a unique process to restore my maps that is massively time consuming and labour intensive. Hunting down the original maps can take months. I use state of the art and eye-wateringly expensive technology to scan and restore the maps. As a result, I guarantee my maps are a cut above the rest - that's why I can offer a no-quibble refund.
Almost all of my maps look amazing at large sizes (200cm, 6.5ft+) and I can frame and deliver them to you as well, via special oversized courier. Contact me to discuss your specific needs.
