A truly gorgeous and exceptionally rare old map of Constantinople (Istanbul), originally published in 1720 by Jeremias Wolff.
There is a handy key at the bottom of the map that will help you locate 26 important landmarks on the map - and gosh, each landmark is beautifully rendered by Wolff. Topkapi Palace can be clearly seen on the left side of the map, and next to it the Hagia Sophia rising above other nearby buildings. The Bosporus, of course, wends through the middle of the map.
This map was produced at the height of the Ottoman Empire and you can clearly see the fascinating mix of Byzantine (Christian) and Ottoman (Islamic) architecture - notably, lots of domes and minarets. All in all, one of the most beautiful old maps of Istanbul ever produced.
This map looks great at all sizes, but it looks even better when printed large. I can create beautiful, large prints of this map up to 170 inches (432cm). Please get in touch if you're looking for larger, customised or different framing options.
Please note that the three smallest unframed maps (18, 24 and 36 inches wide) all have white edges along the edge of the map. These edges can help you with framing, or if you don’t need them, they are very easy to snip off with scissors. All other maps, including the framed maps, look exactly like the listing images.
If you’re looking for more options, I have another interesting Istanbul map by Georg Braun in 1572.
On this map you can see many historical buildings such as The Seraglio Palace, Hagia Sophia and Suleymaniye Mosque. In the middle, you can also see the Golden Horn Waterway. There are other some other interesting buildings, such as "where the Sultan's elephants are kept" and a "citadel for the Sultan's wise advisors".
This would make a wonderful birthday, Christmas, work leaving or housewarming gift for someone from Turkey or someone who has Istanbul close to their heart.
This map is available as a giclée print on acid free archival matte paper, or you can buy it framed. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that suits most aesthetics. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame colour or material. My frames are glazed with super-clear museum-grade acrylic (perspex/acrylite), which is significantly less reflective than glass, safer, and will always arrive in perfect condition.

I use a unique process to restore my maps that is massively time consuming and labour intensive. Hunting down the original maps can take months. I use state of the art and eye-wateringly expensive technology to scan and restore the maps. As a result, I guarantee my maps are a cut above the rest - that's why I can offer a no-quibble refund.
Almost all of my maps look amazing at large sizes (200cm, 6.5ft+) and I can frame and deliver them to you as well, via special oversized courier. Contact me to discuss your specific needs.
