This map looks great at all sizes: 12x18 inches (31x46cm), 18x24 inches (45.5x61cm) and 24x36 inches (61x91.5cm), but it looks even better when printed large.
I can create beautiful, large prints of this map up to 130 inches (330cm) wide. Please get in touch if you're looking for larger, customised or different framing options.
The model in the listing images is holding the 24x36 inch (60x90cm) version of this map.
At the outset of WW2, with Germany at war with France and the UK, the eastern front with the Soviets was protected by the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact non-aggression pact. The Nazis would later attack the USSR in 1941.
The title of the map is "The Russian Spider Sits Atop the World and Watches for more Victims", and the map has been cleverly drawn from a perspective where Russia does indeed look like a giant spider that wants to gobble up Europe and Asia.
At the time this map was published the US was technically a neutral bystander - but, as I'm sure you know, the US was ideologically much more aligned to the UK and wasn't particularly fond of Joseph Stalin's communist nation. And that's how a major newspaper ended up publishing this rather beautiful map.
Take a closer look at the listing images and read a few of the notes on the map, such as, 'Yonder lies Alaska, which Russia regrets she sold to the USA.' And 'Sweden may be next, along with Norway'.
This would make a wonderful birthday, Christmas, work leaving or housewarming gift for someone interested in World War 2 or Soviet history.
This map is available as a giclée print on acid free archival matte paper, or you can buy it framed. The frame is a nice, simple black frame that suits most aesthetics. Please get in touch if you'd like a different frame colour or material. My frames are glazed with super-clear museum-grade acrylic (perspex/acrylite), which is significantly less reflective than glass, safer, and will always arrive in perfect condition.
Some of my old maps are now available on canvas. Smaller and larger sizes are available, but you must contact me to order.
Check my canvas maps collection to see which maps are currently available on canvas.
Canvas old maps are an interesting alternative to conventionally framed maps. Depending on your personal taste and room decor, canvas maps can "pop" a bit more than a framed map.
I print on responsibly sourced canvas with very high quality, fade-resistant inks. Then the canvas is stretched over a hand-glued solid wood frame - and yes, the wood is responsibly and renewably sourced.
The finished piece is 1.5 inches (3.8cm) deep and comes ready to hang.
Please note that because of the texture of canvas, some of the finer details on some maps will be harder to read than a map printed on paper.
At 36x24 inches (90x60cm) everything should be legible. But if you want to check before you order, please contact me.
If you are not happy with your unique map for any reason, contact me for a no-quibble refund.

I use a unique process to restore my maps that is massively time consuming and labour intensive. Hunting down the original maps can take months. I use state of the art and eye-wateringly expensive technology to scan and restore the maps. As a result, I guarantee my maps are a cut above the rest - that's why I can offer a no-quibble refund.
Almost all of my maps look amazing at large sizes (200cm, 6.5ft+) and I can frame and deliver them to you as well, via special oversized courier. Contact me to discuss your specific needs.
