Seguir leyendoCopper Mountain, in Colorado, is shown here as a wide, high-alpine panorama: an illustrated ski map that lets the whole mountain unfold from village level to the ridgeline above. Rather than flattening the resort into a purely overhead plan, it presents the ski area as a lived landscape, with snowy bowls, wooded lower slopes and a busy base gathered beneath the mountain’s broad face. The prominent summit label, Copper Mountain, anchors the scene, while a bright sunburst above the skyline gives the entire composition a crisp, luminous mountain atmosphere.
The geography is one of the map’s real pleasures. Across the upper slopes, Copper Mountain, Tucker Mountain, Union Peak and Jacque Peak form a chain of named high points, each helping to define the shape of the terrain below. Between them, the ski area breaks into distinct sections rather than one uniform sweep: Spaulding Bowl and Resolution Bowl open out in broad alpine terrain, while Copper Bowl, Union Meadows and the Upper Enchanted Forest bring variety to the central mountain. Lower down, dark conifer forests tighten around the runs, and the resort settles into a clearly organised base of East Village, Center Village and West Village, with Lewis Ranch extending the mapped area to the right.
What makes this map especially engaging is the way painterly mountain relief and practical ski information are layered together. Soft blue shadowing shapes the snowfields; charcoal rock hatching sharpens the steeper faces; dense evergreen textures give the lower mountain its depth and rhythm. Over that quieter terrain, the piste network is drawn in vivid coloured lines, with red lift routes cutting decisively uphill and named runs threading down through open slopes and trees. Familiar labels such as American Eagle, American Flyer, Super Bee, Excelerator, Timberline and Mountain Chief sit naturally within the landscape, while the yellow boundary line around the higher terrain adds another crisp graphic note.
There is plenty here for someone who knows Copper Mountain well. The lower map is full of village detail and small discoveries: Woodward, Central Park, Koko’s Kids’ Park, Dino Ridge Beginner Progression, the Tubing Hill, parking areas, the Transportation Center, I-70, and even the directional pull of the road towards Denver. For returning visitors, those details can make the map feel immediately recognisable; for someone planning a first trip, they give the resort a sense of structure and character that goes beyond the pistes alone.
As wall art, it has a pleasing balance between drama and precision. From a distance, the mountain panorama reads as a bold winter landscape of peaks, bowls and forest. Up close, the compact lettering, lift symbols and route names reward slower looking, making it the kind of piece that continues to reveal itself over time.
The art of the ski map
This map’s character comes from its panoramic perspective and its strong contrast between atmosphere and information. The pale blue distance, luminous sky and sunburst create depth behind the main mountain, while the foreground terrain is modelled clearly enough to show ridges, bowls and tree-lined descents without losing the sense of a real alpine setting.
Just as effective is the graphic discipline of the ski-area overlay. Red lift lines, coloured runs, yellow boundary markings and compact sans-serif labels sit cleanly across the snow, giving the map energy and legibility. The result is both decorative and absorbing: a mountain picture that also invites close reading.
A sense of place at home
This piece would sit especially well in a chalet sitting room, a study or a hallway where ski memories naturally belong. Its cool blues, dark greens and crisp white slopes give it a fresh, alpine palette, while the detailed base villages and named peaks make it feel personal for anyone with a connection to Copper Mountain.
A thoughtful gift for skiers
This is a particularly thoughtful choice for someone who returns to Copper Mountain year after year, has learned the layout of its villages and lifts by heart, or wants to remember a trip to Colorado in a more lasting way. It also suits a chalet owner or mountain-loving family who would enjoy recognising the resort’s bowls, forests and base-area detail on the wall.
Perfect for:
- A birthday gift for a skier who loves Copper Mountain
- A keepsake of a memorable Colorado ski trip
- A chalet or mountain-home interior with a personal link to the resort
- An anniversary or Christmas gift for a couple who ski there together
- A present for someone planning their first visit to Copper Mountain
- A housewarming gift for a family with favourite holidays in the area
For anyone who knows Copper Mountain, this map captures both the shape of the mountain and the familiar rhythm of the resort below it.

A familiar resort can hold years of memories: the slope where someone first learned to ski, a much-loved mountain restaurant, or the chalet you return to every winter. Explore examples of our personalised maps for ideas on how to bring those memories into your design.
For a more nostalgic finish, you can choose our optional ageing treatment. Softer tones and a gently weathered appearance give the map the character of a vintage alpine print, particularly suited to a chalet, study or reading room. Browse examples of our ageing treatments to see the different effects.
The model in the listing images is holding the 16x20in (40x50cm) version of this map.
For a larger statement piece, printing and framing at sizes up to 3 metres (10ft) may be available, depending on the original map. For a bespoke size or framing option that is not shown online, please get in touch. We will help you choose a format that makes the most of the map's detail.
The map is available as a giclée print on acid-free archival matte paper, or professionally framed and ready to hang. Our standard frames are offered in six carefully selected finishes: black, dark brown, dark grey, antique gold, oak and white. A wider range of mouldings, mounts and finishes is available through our custom framing service.
Our frames are glazed with super-clear museum-grade acrylic, chosen for its clarity and light weight. The finish keeps the focus on the map, from the sweep of the mountain range to the finer piste lines and place names.
This map is also available as a float framed canvas, sometimes known as a shadow gap framed canvas or canvas floater. The map is printed on artist's cotton canvas and then stretched over a handmade box frame. We then "float" the canvas inside a wooden frame, which is available in a range of colours (black, dark brown, oak, antique gold and white). This is a wonderful way to present a map without glazing in front. See some examples of float framed canvas maps and explore the differences between my different finishes.
For something truly unique, this map is also available in "Unique 3D", our trademarked process that dramatically transforms the map so that it has a wonderful sense of depth. We combine the original map with detailed topography and elevation data, so that mountains and the terrain really "pop". For more info and examples of 3D maps, check my Unique 3D page.
