Custom Orders - How It Works

Custom maps and artwork are made especially for you – things like:

  • Maps centred on a location you choose
  • Custom sizes, colours or layouts
  • Personalisation (names, dates, quotes, routes, illustrations, etc.)
  • Converting a map or artwork from 2D into 3D
  • Ageing, adding an artist border, or pop art text

Because of this, the process and cancellation rules are a bit different from standard products.

The Process

  1. You place your order
    You tell us your location, size, colours, wording and any other details we ask for. We will always try to get all of the details before we start your order, so we know exactly what we're working on.
  2. We design your map or artwork
    We create a draft based on what you’ve sent us. This process can be relatively quick (an hour) or very drawn out (hours, even days).
  3. You approve the draft
    We send you a draft or proof by email or WhatsApp, depending on how you first contacted us. You check everything carefully (spelling, dates, locations, colours, size) and confirm it’s OK.
  4. We print & ship
    Once you approve, your map or artwork goes to print and then is dispatched to you.

Changes & Extra Charges

If you need to make some changes to your custom order, that's totally fine! Most changes are included in the price you have paid. For example, moving a location marker or changing some text, would be included in the price.

Bigger changes may cost extra, for example:

  • Changing the main location after we’ve already sent you a draft
  • Changing size, orientation, or overall style after we've already agreed on the design
  • Excessive rounds of revision

If a change will cost extra, we’ll tell you before doing anything so you can decide.

Cancellations & Refunds

Because custom maps are made just for you, they have slightly different cancelation and refund rules:

  • Before we start design
    If you cancel before we’ve begun any design work, we can usually refund you in full.
  • After we’ve started design
    You can still cancel, but we may keep a reasonable design fee to cover time spent.
  • After you approve the draft
    Your order is sent to print and is final. At this stage, cancellations and refunds are normally not possible unless we’ve made a mistake.

Custom-made products are generally non-returnable unless faulty or misdescribed, because we are not able to resell them to other customers. We do not usually offer refunds for custom-made products, but we may give you store credit (a non-expiring gift card) instead. This doesn’t affect your legal rights.

If Something Goes Wrong

If we make an error that’s different from the proof you approved (e.g. wrong colours, layout, or a production fault), we’ll put it right – usually by sending a replacement.

If the mistake comes from the details you gave us (for example a misspelled name or wrong date), we can redo the map, but this may be treated as a new order. We will usually give you a discounted price in this scenario.
