No code is required. The offer is applied automatically.
Full terms and conditions
The Collector’s Offer applies to eligible works in standard made-to-order configurations. Bespoke sizes, personalised designs and commissioned work are excluded. Products with “personalised” or “custom” in their name are generally excluded.
The offer is administered as two separate automatic discounts: one for smaller formats and one for larger formats. To qualify, you must purchase two eligible works within the same format group. Maps and art prints may be mixed and matched within each group.
For example, two eligible A4 or 8 × 10 in prints qualify for 25% off both. One smaller-format print and one larger-format work do not qualify together, as items from different format groups cannot be combined to meet the two-item requirement.

Map size guide
Maps with intricate detail are best enjoyed at larger sizes, giving smaller place names and features more room to be appreciated. Each map is made to order, so custom sizing is also available: select 'custom size' on the product page and enter your dimensions, or add them to your order notes at checkout.
Your map fills the entire sheet, with no additional white border. The design is presented as shown in the product images. To request extra space around the map, please contact us or leave a note with your order.
Compare a selection of our standard sizes below, shown in landscape and portrait orientation.

| 16x12in (40x30cm) | 20x16in (50x40cm) | 24x18in (60x45cm) |
36x24in (90x60cm) |

| 12x16in (30x40cm) | 16x20in (40x50cm) | 18x24in (45x60cm) |
24x36in (60x90cm) |
Framed maps
Our standard frames add approximately 2cm (0.75in) on each side. For example, a 45x60cm map measures around 49x64cm including its frame, while a 24x36in map measures around 25.5x37.5in. Allow for these outer dimensions when measuring your wall space.
Maps over 125cm/50in usually have wider frames. For a particular frame width or style, explore our custom framing options.
Unframed maps
Planning to frame your map yourself? The guidance below will help you choose the right fit, particularly for larger maps and less conventional sizes.
Choosing a frame that fits
Use the dimensions listed for your chosen map to select a frame. Look for the size of artwork the frame holds, rather than the frame's outer dimensions.
For example, an 18x24 inch map needs a frame that 'fits artwork' measuring 18x24 inches. For a 60x90cm map, choose a frame that fits 60x90cm artwork.
For unusual sizes, such as 24x11 inches (61x29cm), we recommend waiting until your map arrives before ordering a frame. Dimensions can vary by a few millimetres, so measuring the print first will help ensure a good fit.
For a map that needs to fit exact dimensions in centimetres or inches, please contact us. Custom sizing is available at no additional charge for maps over 50in/125cm.
Framing larger maps
Before ordering a separate frame for a large map, wait until your print arrives and measure it. This gives you the dimensions you need to choose a frame with confidence.
If you are using a local framer, take the map with you so they can measure it and make the frame to fit.
Careful mounting helps larger maps lie flat and reduces the risk of rippling. For a professionally finished piece, we would be happy to frame your map for you.
Gift message & custom finish

If you want to add a gift message, or a finish (jigsaw, aluminium board, etc.) that is not available here, please request it in the "order note" when you check out.
Every order is custom made, so if you need the size adjusted slightly, or printed on an unusual material, just let us know. We've done thousands of custom orders over the years, so there's (almost) nothing we can't manage.
You can also contact us before you order, if you prefer!

Continue readingTitled “Dennis,” this 1943 United States Geological Survey topographical map presents a finely observed portrait of central Cape Cod, focusing on Dennis and Yarmouth, Massachusetts, at a scale of 1:31,680. It captures the peninsula between the open waters of Cape Cod Bay to the north and Nantucket Sound to the south, revealing a landscape defined by tidal inlets, ponds, creeks, roads, and coastal settlements. Produced during a period when USGS mapping was prized for both civilian planning and national utility, the map records Cape Cod before many later waves of suburban and resort development. Its careful delineation of roads, shorelines, waterways, and relief makes it a quietly evocative document of the Cape’s mid-twentieth-century geography.
The United States Geological Survey, established in 1879, became the authoritative cartographic institution for mapping the nation’s terrain, resources, and natural hazards. By the 1940s, its topographic sheets had achieved a distinctive visual language: precise contour lines, measured hydrography, and a disciplined treatment of roads, settlements, and landforms. This map of Dennis reflects that mature USGS style, balancing scientific clarity with a remarkable sense of place. Contours trace the subtle rises and hollows of Cape Cod’s glacial landscape, while water features are rendered with equal care. Rather than dramatizing the terrain, the map lets the peninsula’s own geography speak through exacting linework and a dense network of place names.
Dennis and Yarmouth appear here as communities shaped by water on every side. To the north, the coastline along Cape Cod Bay is articulated by coves, beaches, and low-lying margins; to the south, the shore opens toward Nantucket Sound. Between them lie the ponds, creeks, and riverways that give this part of the Cape its intricate character. Mill Pond, Ice Pond, Pollock’s Pond, Grand Cove, Chase Garden Creek, Parkers River, and Bass River all appear as part of an interlaced hydrological system. These features are not merely decorative: they reveal the ecological and economic framework of the region, from marshland and fishing grounds to transport corridors and sheltered settlement sites.
The roads and trails, marked throughout in red, lend the map a compelling sense of human movement across the Cape’s sandy interior and coastal edges. Seaview Avenue, the routes through South Yarmouth and West Dennis, and the roads linking East Dennis to the northern shoreline show a region in transition from old village patterns toward the automobile-oriented Cape of the later twentieth century. The map preserves a moment when settlement was still closely tethered to ponds, rivers, and shore access, before modern development softened or obscured many of these relationships. Its combination of road detail and topographical restraint makes it especially valuable for understanding how everyday geography connected towns, waterways, and coastlines.
As a historical image of Cape Cod, “Dennis” is rich with quiet transformations. The terrain appears modest in elevation, yet the contour lines reveal the glacially formed texture of the land: low ridges, shallow valleys, pond basins, and gently sloping approaches to the sea. Since 1943, this area has seen intensified residential growth, expanded road networks, and environmental pressures on wetlands, rivers, and coastal margins. The map therefore serves as both a practical survey and a time capsule, showing Dennis and Yarmouth at a pivotal moment in their evolution. Its understated beauty lies in the precision with which it records a beloved coastal landscape before many of its later changes.

This map is also available as a float framed canvas, sometimes known as a shadow gap framed canvas or canvas floater. The map is printed on artist's cotton canvas and then stretched over a handmade box frame. We then "float" the canvas inside a wooden frame, which is available in a range of colours (black, dark brown, oak, antique gold and white). This is a wonderful way to present a map without glazing in front. See some examples of float framed canvas maps and explore the differences between my different finishes.
For something truly unique, this map is also available in "Unique 3D", our trademarked process that dramatically transforms the map so that it has a wonderful sense of depth. We combine the original map with detailed topography and elevation data, so that mountains and the terrain really "pop". For more info and examples of 3D maps, check my Unique 3D page.

Our standard frame is a gallery-style black ash hardwood frame, with a simple, modern look. It is approximately 20mm (0.8in) wide. You can also view some lovely customer photos of framed maps and art.
We use super-clear acrylic glazing, also known as Perspex or Acrylite, instead of traditional glass. It is lighter, safer, and has lower reflectivity, giving the artwork a clearer, cleaner appearance.
Six standard frame colours are available at no extra cost: black, dark brown, dark grey, oak, white, and antique gold. Custom framing and mounting/matting is also available for customers looking for something more specific.
Most maps, art prints, and illustrations are also available as a framed canvas. We use matte cotton canvas, stretch it over a sustainably sourced wooden box frame, and then float the piece within a wooden outer frame. The finished result is beautifully presented, with no glazing between you and the artwork.
All frames are supplied ready to hang, with either string or brackets fitted to the back. Very large frames will include heavy-duty hanging plates and/or a mounting baton. If you have any questions, please get in touch.
We can also supply old maps and artwork on canvas, foam board, cotton rag, and other materials.
If you would prefer to frame your map or artwork yourself, please read our size guide before ordering.
We work with interior designers, hospitality businesses, property professionals, offices and corporate buyers on individual pieces and larger coordinated projects.
This map can be adapted for a particular wall, room or project, and our workshop can help coordinate the dimensions, material and framing before production.
- Exact, oversized and made-to-measure dimensions
- Custom framing, mounting and alternative materials
- Coordinated pieces for several rooms or locations
- Map personalisation, to mark important locations or add extra details
- Map and framing guidance from our workshop

Every Unique Maps piece begins with an authentic cartographic source or an original design from our London studio.
For our historic maps, we source rare originals from libraries, archives, auction houses and private collections around the world. We carefully restore each map for print—repairing age-related damage, balancing colour and improving clarity while preserving its original detail, texture and character.
Once restored, the map is prepared for your chosen size and finish. Your piece is then printed and, where selected, framed close to its delivery destination.
Our map prints use acid-free 200gsm archival matte paper and fade-resistant pigment inks, creating a rich, non-glossy finish designed to last. Framed maps use crystal-clear optical acrylic and arrive ready to hang.
Canvas, cotton-rag and other specialist presentations are also available. Learn more about our materials and finishes.
